Types of EV chargers in Australia
A short reference for public charging — not home wallboxes. ChargeRoute only shows power and connector fields when government open data includes them.
AC destination chargers
Usually Type 2 connectors at shopping centres, hotels, and car parks. Common ratings in open data include 7 kW and 22 kW. Best for longer stops.
DC fast and ultra-rapid
Highway and corridor chargers for road trips. Listed power may be 50 kW, 150 kW, 350 kW or mixed banks. Charging time depends on the vehicle and site — ChargeRoute estimates are labelled as estimates.
CCS2 and other plugs
CCS2 is the usual DC plug for recent EVs in Australia. Some sites also list CHAdeMO. Tesla sites may appear under Tesla network labels in source data.
