1. Set a real usable range

Use the range you actually see at highway speeds in your climate — not the brochure WLTP figure. ChargeRoute’s planner asks for usable km at 100% SoC so estimates match how you drive.

2. Keep an arrival reserve

Arriving at 5% is stressful and leaves no margin for a busy or offline site. A 15–20% arrival target is a common planning default on ChargeRoute corridors.

3. Prefer DC for highway legs

Destination AC chargers are fine overnight. For Hume, Pacific and SEQ hops, filter for higher kW and CCS2 where your vehicle needs it — see fast chargers and charger types.

4. Confirm before you commit

Open data lags reality. Check the network app (Chargefox, Evie, Tesla, Ampol, etc.) before remote legs. ChargeRoute labels operational / planned / unknown from source — it does not claim live queues.

5. Use corridor pages

Start from a popular EV route or road-trip hub, adjust range/SoC, and read the assumptions panel. Coverage is strongest for NSW, Queensland and Victoria today.
